PRESEASON SAMPLE BOX SCORE
I used Saturday night's game between USC and Virginia Tech to fill in a preseason sample box score. PAC 10 vs. ACC.
Matt Leinhart, the PAC 10 quarterback, scored 21 fantasy points. Three for passing for 272 yards. One point awarded for throwing over 100 yards; two more fantasy points awarded for going over 200 yards. He was awarded 6 fantasy points for each of his three touchdown passes. That all equaled 21 fantasy points. LenDale White, the PAC 10 running back was awarded 1 fantasy point for rushing for 78 yards. Steve Smith was awarded one point for 68 yards in receptions. Reggie Bush, flex position running back, was awarded 21 fantasy points. Three for 127 yards in receptions and 6 fantasy points awarded for each of his three touchdown receptions. His 32 yards in rushing were not enough to be awarded any points in that statistic. Since Virginia Tech, the ACC starting defense, could not hold USC to under 21 points no points were subtracted from the PAC 10 over all scoring. PAC 10 scores 44 points in this sample.
Bryan Randall, the ACC quarterback, scored 8 fantasy points. One fantasy point awarded for 153 yards passing. Six points for one touchdown pass. And three fantasy point awarded for 114 yards rushing. That equals 10 fantasy points but 2 fantasy points were deducted for throwing an interception. Cedric Humes, the ACC running back, received 0 fantasy points because he scored no touchdowns, rushed for less than 50 yards, and had less than 50 yards in receptions. Richard Johnson, the ACC wide receiver, and Justing Hamilton, the ACC flex position running back fall into that same category. Neither were awarded with any fantasy points. At this point the ACC has scored 8 fantasy points. However, USC, the defense the PAC 10 started, only gave up 13 points to Virginia Tech. That is 8 points under the 21 fantasy point base so 8 fantasy points were deducted from the ACC total score leaving them with 0 points as a final score. NOTE: If USC had given up LESS than 13 points to Virginia Tech the ACC still would have scored 0 points - not a negative score.

Post Draft Preview
There are a lot of questions to be answered here in Season 2. Will Dan from Pinckney prove to everyone his Season 1 Championship with the Big 12 was not a fluke? Will MrFaust’s #2 pick of the Big 10 get him to the promise land once again and over the final hump? Wolvman passed up on a ‘new and improved’ ACC, his former Conference, and chose the SEC. Was this a wise move? How will DJ Fontana and the ‘new’ ACC fare this year in College Fantasy Football? Blue is one of three owners going on two year ownership. Will he and the PAC 10 succeed minus Steven Jackson and the pair of Williams’? In what ‘I’ thought was the biggest shocker in the draft, Nbickel3 took Conference USA. I don’t question Nbickel3 at all; after all, he had the 10th pick in Season 1 and climbed four notches to end the season in 6th place and this year’s 6th pick. Well deserved. My question is: do you have some players hidden up your sleeve no one knows about? 19usmc87 snags last year’s #2 team at the #7 spot. Will the largest Conference fight at the top of the hill once again in the Final battle? The WAC goes at #8 for the second year in a row. Bosshogg23 had little to work with last year but still improved two spots in the Pick Order. Will his climb up this ladder accelerate with more talent? Hardy1169 uses to the 10th pick to take a Big East Conference that’s been gutted of its two best teams. Even so, Hardy1169 owned the Independents last year. This is a drastic improvement for this owner. Something is telling me the Big East is going to really surprise some owners in this league. Will I be right? GoBlueChris in his freshman season gets the Sun Belt. Will the sophomore experience or late pick prove to be too much to handle? I think it is too early to predict on that right now. And last but not least Jeff, also in his freshman season, will sport the new Ivypendent Conference. Did everyone make a mistake by passing up this first year Conference? These questions will begin to be answered in just a few weeks when Season 2 begins.
